Local Lasses Meet Germans
The 2010 provincial integrated office hosted a successful soccer festival tour where Germany’s under 15 and under 17 ladies teams played against Mpumalanga’s under 15 team and Basetsana. The festival is a way in which women’s participation in sport can be encouraged and increased so that the sports development opportunities can be given to many poor communities in Mpumalanga. The main purpose of the tour was to get people in the province really excited about the Fifa World Cup. Fun activities and soccer clinics were arranged for children where they were taught basic football skills. South African coaches also got an opportunity to learn from the Germans at a coaching session in White River.
