My life for good Home

I have a question?

What are my rights and responsibilities?

Children's rights

Children have special rights. According to the South African Constitution a child is any person under 18 years of age.

All children have the right to:

  • A name and a nationality from birth
  • Family care or parental care
  • Food, shelter, basic health care services and social services
  • Be protected from abuse
  • Be protected from exploitative labour
  • Not to be required to work or provide services that harm them
  • Not to be sent to prison unless this is the only solution
  • A lawyer paid for by the government if they need one
  • Not to be used to fight in war and to be protected during war.
