HANDS OF HONOUR REACH FINALS OF URBAN AGE AWARDS
The Hands of Honour made poor communities in Cape Town proud by making it to the finals of the DEUTSCHE BANK URBAN AGE AWARDS- CAPE TOWN: 2012 for the much lauded REGENERATION FOR THE CITY AND SOUL PROJECT.
The project involves utilising the skills of former homeless/drug addicts and youth at risk to transform derelict buildings once used for anti-social /crime/drug activities into clean, attractive, safe public spaces conducive to economic development and community healing.
One of the many benefits are that the former neglected space now serves as a point of reconciliation between as those who formerly ''terrorized '' the community with their anti-social behaviour are seen to heroes as they go about fixing and enhancing once dilapidated buildings.
