Hugs not drugs
Members of the Garsfontein, Boschkop and Sunnyside communities, supported by their local police stations recently took a stand against drugs. In a procession lead by a police band, people carrying posters reading “Hugs not drugs” and “Don’t be chained to drugs, be chained to Jesus” took a stand. Local motivational speaker, Chris Batts, himself an ex-drug user admitted to having spent time in prison for drug-induced harm caused to a friend while under the influence. Debbie Henderson, a counsellor at the Garsfontein and Boschkop police stations urged parents to not be afraid to ask if they suspect that their children are involved in drugs. She has personal experience of losing a child due to drug abuse. The New Life Ministries (www.newlifebehaviour.org.za) handed out information to members of the public on the centre and the courses that they offer. For more information or help, you are welcome to contact Debbie on 083 595 9897.
