Everyone's talking about climate change and changing the planet. Yet there are still bills to pay, families to feed and other issues demading our attention. Why then should we really care enough to actually do something about the environment? Well, because:
We all live on this earth. In order for us to "get on with our lives" there there needs to be a planet that allows humans to live well on it. Climate change impacts our ability to live well on this planet. Because it affects every facet of life, anyone who cares about anything can find some way to respond to climate change.
Concerned about HIV & Aids? Climate change will increases the chances that someone with HIV can get even sicker. Many people with HIV and Aids live in informal settlements. These areas are less protected against droughts, floods, fires and terrible storms – all of which are made worse by climate change.
Do you a passion to protect women's rights? Women in rural areas often head households and have to grow and cook food, and provide water, cattle food and firewood. All of these necessities will be put under strain by climate change. This will increase the burden on rural women to feed their children.
Do you want to mentor someone? They can only reach their full potential if the Earth functions as it should.
Climate change affects us all.
