Rural to Action

Rural to Action is a youth-led, community-focused organization dedicated to empowering young individuals in rural areas. In many of these communities, hunger remains a significant barrier that prevents children from accessing quality education. Malnutrition and food insecurity not only impact physical health but also impede cognitive growth, school attendance, focus, and overall academic success. To combat this issue, Rural to Action is implementing a comprehensive strategy aimed at addressing immediate hunger among children in rural primary schools in Mbita, Homabay County. The goal is to provide meals for 800 children in 2024 and expand to 10,000 children by 2030 throughout Mbita and across Kenya. The organization has initiated a pilot program at Chamakowa Primary School, offering a daily serving of nutritious porridge to 200 children over one year, with plans for sustainable projects to ensure continuity beyond donor support.
