Carel du Toit Trust

Good news - Carel du Toit Centre and Trust enables babies and young children with hearing impairments to learn to listen and speak, and supports their parents in the CHAT Centre (children hear and talk). In the Carel du Toit School - which goes up to Grade Three (age 10) children follow the CAPS Curriculum and learn to hear and talk and acquire knowledge to flourish in a hearing society. Every day miracles happen with our children as they develop spoken language and skills through the Carel du Toit methodology and hearing technology. Our dedicated staff of teachers and therapists, teaching assistants and non-teaching staff are devoted to the cause and to the children. The Trust is the fundraising vehicle for the Centre and handles the finances for the Group. Our Screening Unit at the Tygerberg Hospital screens more than 3,500 high risk babies every year.
