Goldilocks and The Bear Foundation (#gb4adhd) was founded by psychiatrist Professor Renata Schoeman (“Goldilocks”) and Nic de Beer (“The Bear”) in 2017. While competing in the African X trail run, they aimed to raise funds for a non-profit supporting children with ADHD. When they couldn't find an organisation providing these services, they decided to create their own. Thus, Goldilocks and The Bear Foundation became South Africa’s first provider of free ADHD screening and early intervention services. The Foundation offers free ADHD and mental health screenings for children in underprivileged communities, helping families access appropriate services within the Department of Health or through volunteer healthcare professionals, including optometrists, audiologists, psychometrists, and psychologists.
