On the afternoon of Monday, the 3rd of June, 2024, a devastating tornado swept through the Magwaveni, Newtown and the Barbies areas of Tongaat, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. This catastrophic event has displaced approximately 1,200 residents, destroying numerous homes and schools. The affected families are now facing immense hardships, including the loss of their basic necessities and a safe place to stay. In response to this crisis, today, MOWCS KNFSA has already mobilized and have started to provide meals. However, the scale of the disaster requires a concerted effort from the community and organizations like yours to ensure that these residents receive the support they desperately need. We are appealing for donations of grocery items and funds to aid in the logistics of delivering these essential supplies to the affected areas.
