Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Saidika Organization – Fundraising Concept Note 1. Background Saidika Organization is a community-based non-profit working in Nairobi’s informal settlements, including Kibera, Kawangware, and Korogocho. These areas face intersecting challenges: extreme poverty, limited access to education and healthcare, high rates of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), unemployment, and recurring emergencies such as fires and floods. Founded on the belief that every individual deserves dignity and opportunity, Saidika supports vulnerable women, youth, and children through a holistic set of programs. The organization is trusted within the community and has a proven record of grassroots impact. 2. Vision and Mission Vision: To provide a safe and supportive environment for survivors of SGBV. Through counseling, legal assistance, and access to resources, we assist survivors in their journey towards healing and recovery, collaborating with other organizations to advocate for justice and accountability. Mission: To support individuals and families in the poorest community, drawing strength from our global diversity, resources, and experience. 3. Current Reach Through its six core programs, Saidika reaches approximately 2,600 – 5,200 direct beneficiaries annually across Kibera, Kawangware, and Korogocho. Beneficiaries include survivors of violence, school-aged children, adolescent girls, women entrepreneurs, grassroots leaders, and families affected by crises. 4. Core Programs Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Support – survivor counseling, legal referrals, community awareness. Menstrual Health (Smile Girl Champion) – provision of sanitary pads and dignity kits, menstrual education. Education & Upskilling – school scholarships, adult literacy, digital training, community libraries. Leadership Development (Imarisha Uongozi) – capacity building for grassroots leaders and CBOs. Emergency Response – rapid relief during fires, floods, pandemics, and for vulnerable households. Women Empowerment (SOWEP) – vocational training, small business support, savings and loan groups. 5. The Need for Funding Despite its strong community presence, Saidika faces significant funding gaps that limit program scale and sustainability. Urgent needs include: Expanding GBV case support and awareness campaigns. Sustaining education scholarships to prevent dropouts. Meeting the growing demand for menstrual health kits among adolescent girls. Building emergency reserves for rapid disaster response. Scaling vocational training and small enterprise support for women and youth. 6. Funding Opportunities Illustrative Costs & Impact: $20 – provides 3 months of sanitary pads for one girl. $50 – offers emergency counseling and referral for a GBV survivor. $200 – covers annual school fees for one Saidika Scholar. $300 – trains 15 grassroots leaders in governance and fundraising. $800 – runs a digital literacy bootcamp for 30 young people. $1,000 – supports 50 girls in the Smile Girl Champion program for one year. $1,200 – provides emergency food and relief supplies for 120 households. 7. Call to Action With your support, Saidika can double its impact in the next three years, ensuring that: More survivors of violence access healing and justice. More girls complete their education with dignity. More women and youth gain the skills to break cycles of poverty. More families are protected in times of crisis. We invite you to partner with us through donations, monthly giving, corporate sponsorships, grants, or in-kind support. Together, we can transform the lives of thousands living in Nairobi’s informal settlements. 8.
