How can you help?

Help Johannesburg Dream Center NPC by donating blankets for the less fortunate.

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Introduction Johannesburg Dream Center invites you to help us kick-out the winter freeze for those less fortunate. Every winter, we complain about walking out of our warm homes, bundled in name brand warm clothes and into our soon-to-be-warm cars. Heaven forbid we have to walk a short distance from the parking lot to reach our heated work/school buildings. Imagine the life the underpriviledged and homeless - woman and children. They have no heated home, car, or worse something as simple as blanket to escape the freezing temperatures. Maybe they make their way to the homeless shelter where they still are cold and do not have the proper attire to stay warm. Therefore, we are going to hold a blanket drive to get blankets for the less fortunate. A blanket could be the difference between a good night’s sleep and a night of shivering. Objectives Supply Blankets to the homeless and underpriviledged Make or collect 300 blankets by 31 May 2022 Distribute blankets to the homeless and underpriviledged on or from Saturday, 04 June 2022. Action Plan The blanket drive is an annual winter initiative that JDC started in 2014. This year our target is to distribute 300 blankets to the homeless and less fortunate. For 2022, we want to do things a little different by inviting our volunteers to lovingly make the blankets by hand. This way, we will reach and distribute to more people. Leading up to distribution, we will approach various stakeholders to donate funds towards the making of 300 polar fleece blankets at a cost of R80.00 a 1.5 m x 1.5 m blanket. Once or twice a week, we will then invite volunteers to come to our premises for a day of fun and braiding blankets for a good cause. Alternatively, you may join us by making the blankets from comfort of your home/workplace - we can provide you with a quick and easy How-to-video. Deliver to us before 31 May and then join us for distribution. This can also be a good charitable cause and team building exercise; we invite teams to visit our offices for a day of volunteering and braiding blankets. Beneficiaries This project will benefit as many people, living in poverty, as the number of blankets we can make. Many of whom include women and children. We aim to distribute to the underpriviledged communities of Cosmo City, Kya Sand, Diesploot and Zandspruit.
