Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

The Mabula district is a tourism & wildlife paradise where people like yourself come to relax, play, spend quality time with family & friends, enjoy nature, to get away from the daily grind and we want to keep it that way. So we need your help too. To assist in the fight against crime including poaching, meat poaching and theft of wildlife and livestock, The Rory Hensman Conservation and Research Unit purchased a Bat Hawk which allows a bird’s eye view, which assists ground teams to follow up and catch poachers and criminals in their tracks. Recently, Bela-Bela has had a spike in poachers using dogs to hunt down wildlife and livestock. This can be a precursor to more serious crimes if allowed to continue with impunity as these stories of a Somnolent community may spread to other hardened Poachers and Criminals. The Bat Hawk can help identify these poachers and lead them to be arrested. Besides for catching poachers, the Bat Hawk has assisted in various ways around the Mabula District including finding missing giraffe, oryx and buffalo from neighbouring farms, guiding fire teams at bush fires to extinguishing fires quickly and effectively and has even flown the Mayor of Thabazimbi, showing her the research and conservation work that is being done in the area. Unfortunately, Bat Hawk needs major repairs. Her wings are damaged, and she has been affectionately renamed “Patches”. Although she is still airborne, the tears are getting bigger and we may have to stop flying her until we can get the funds together to put new wings on her, thus no more visible patrols, no more support from the sky for the ground teams and it will be much more difficult to locate poached, injured or lost wildlife and livestock. We are hoping that you will contribute towards the repair of Patches, allowing her to become the effective aerial support tool and proud Bat Hawk that she deserves to be. Without Bat Hawk we will be unable to complete the missions that we are assigned to assist with. Please share our campaign and if you can, please donate.
