Help Khulisa Social Solutions raise R10,000 for providing mobile data for school going children
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Khulisa Social Solutions need funds to provide mobile data for school going children in 6 regions, namely, Meriteng (Rustenburg); Tembisa (Ekurhuleni); Northam (Limpopo); Kamhlushwa (Mpumalanga); Delportshoop (N. Cape); Winelands (W. Cape). These funds are essential in order to enable these children to access the online learning resources as part of Khulisa’s school going children programmes. Within our Communities of Opportunity framework, we focus on a holistic education methodology that prepares students to meet any challenges they may face both in school and their broader lives. We help students to know and understand themselves and assist them in their emotional & social development in order to build positive behaviours and resilient attitudes. In our CoO work, we have conducted extensive research within our 6 communities to develop an understanding of their most pressing needs from the perspective of community members. In these 6 communities we found a need for assistance with communication and reading skills but there was an overwhelming interest in learning more about computer skills. Collectively these needs can be addressed most effectively and efficiently through access to digital learning resources. Khulisa has worked with experienced field workers and community members to develop processes for learners to gain access to online courses, mentorship, tutoring and virtual learning environments. However the necessary internet infrastructure is lacking to implement this effectively. With the help of the requested donation, we will be able to purchase bulk quantities of mobile data to provide access to the various areas' existing mobile networks and our own online learning resources to students. Any amount donated to this programme will benefit students greatly, both now and as they mature further in their schooling careers. Your donation will qualify for an S18A Tax Exemption Certificate.
