Help Khulisa Social Solutions raise R20 000 for Wendy house, rent and food to help a homeless family

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Khulisa Streetscapes is in need of a Wendy house, rent and food to help a family of homeless individuals to move off the streets. Khulisa Streetscapes has this year provided over 50 people and where applicable, their families, a chance to move off the streets into a place they call home. We have 80 people in our work-based rehabilitation programme. We provide people places in our houses in Kuisriver and Woodstock, or we build them Wendy houses (pictures provided of the two Streetscape houses and the type of Wendy house). Beneficiary statement: "Standing in front of my house represents a lot of things to me. Being on the street using substances I never felt safe and my health deteriorated so now living here, I feel all the love and comfort knowing that I have stability and security. And I can be a mother in this space fo people that live with me." "This is our own house with people who really care about us. On the streets people used to look at us as if I was bad. If you would know the stories, you will understand why people are doing drugs and why they are begging on the streets. There were very few options for me. If you give money and just walk away without listening or showing interest, it makes it worse. I wish people would take time to listen." "The only good thing about my drug past is that I actually ended up in Streetscapes. The people I now stay with actually changed my whole way of thinking. Some days when I don't feel well and think I should go smoke, people I live with always encourage and say don't go. We all need this to change our lives."
