• The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence • • Is an National campaign coordinated by Siyakholwa and Team (used by activists) around the world as an organizing strategy to call for the elimination of all forms of gender-based violence. Status of women Gender equality is not only a basic human right, but its achievement has enormous socio-economic ramifications. Empowering women fuels thriving economies, spurring productivity and growth. Yet gender inequalities remain deeply entrenched in every society. Women lack access to decent work and face occupational segregation and gender wage gaps. They are too often denied access to basic education and health care in rural and informal settlements due to their culture. Women in all parts of the world suffer violence and discrimination. They are under-represented in political and economic decision-making processes. • Fast facts • Globally, even before the COVID-19 pandemic began, 1 in 3 women experienced physical or sexual violence mostly by an intimate partner • Emerging data shows an increase in calls to domestic violence helplines in many countries since the outbreak of COVID-19. • Sexual harassment and other forms of violence against women continue to occur on streets, in public spaces and online. • Survivors have limited information and awareness about available services and limited access to support services. • In some countries, resources and efforts have been diverted from violence against women response to immediate COVID-19 relief. Our work Siyakholwa (WE BELIEVE) and Team (Activists) focuses on six areas in its COVID-19 response in South African disadvantaged communities: During COVID-19, Siyakholwa and Team is working on prevention of violence and access to essential services, such as health, justice and policing, social services, helplines and coordination of these services, to provide support to those who have experienced and/or witnessed violence. • Prevention and awareness-raising • Access to essential services, including helplines and shelters • Violence against women in public spaces • Support for rapid assessments and data collection • The ‘duty of care’ of the private sector to support employees • Providing essential services to victims • We provide sustainable development goals to victims (Job creation and we are focus in Farming and Poultry Entrepreneurship start-up seeds) • ACHIEVEMENTS AND INDICATORS It works national to make the vision of the sustainable development goals, a reality for women and girls and stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on four strategic priorities: • Women lead, participate from governance systems • Women have income security • All women and girls live a life free from all forms • Women and girls contribute to and have greater influence in building sustainable, and benefit equally from the prevention of natural disasters and conflicts and humanitarians • • TAKE ACTION: Take action How you can help • Donate and virtual fundraise • These high-impact, scalable initiatives build on and supplement Siyakholwa & Team’s ongoing programming work. Using a human-rights-based approach focused on strengthening the voice of women and girls, they seek to remove structural barriers to gender equality and women’s empowerment. • Spread , Share,Like and virtual volunteering • INCOME GENERATION FOR WOMEN: DECENT WORK AND SOCIAL PROTECTION • The issue we are solving : • • The Women’s access to income through decent employment and social protection is the most transformative way to promote women’s economic empowerment and the achievement of substantive gender equality. This strengthens women’s agency and bargaining power, with broader benefits for families and communities. Women’s economic empowerment and gender equality achieved by extending women’s opportunities for work that is productive and delivers a fair income, security in the workplace, access to social protection, and better prospects for personal and social development. Efforts to secure women’s income generation start by promoting an enabling macroeconomic framework, where decent employment creation and gender equality remain the main objectives of Siyakholwa development and growth policies. • • Inclusive policies generate decent jobs and allow for a more equal distribution of income and non-income gains. The burden of unpaid care work on women and girls puts major constraints on their time and opportunities, perpetuating their economic marginalization and preventing their enjoyment of many rights, including to paid work, education, and skills development. Support for unpaid care work and social protections, combined with active labour market policies, can have important multiplier effects across a spectrum of development goals, including increased female labour force participation and aggregate demand. • the word on social media • Support the #LETS EXPOSE ABUSE OTHER GENDER BASED VIOLENCE SUSTAINABLE DEVELEPMENT GOALS FOR INCOME GENERATE LINK https://goodfoodnetwork.co.za/siyakholwa/ https://www.givengain.com/cc/16-days-of-activism-on-gender-based-violennce-campaign/ www.siyakholwasupportcarecentre.org.za 011 906 0042/ 068 1685 486 info@siyakholwasupportcarecentre.org.za/ siyakholwatrans@gmail.com
