Sports Development at Central Hockey Club

As a community club nestled in Athlone, Central brings hockey to the surrounding communities as a beacon of safety and care. Our currency is our players, and for years now, even though little, Central Hockey Club has and continues to produce numerous Western Province and National players, all the way from our youth development through to senior ladies and men. Our current national captain and junior world cup player of the tournament hales from Athlone- something we are proud of. Currently, we have 8 players who are part of the national setup. This says much about the way 'top hockey' is administered at the club- many players can play at any club and often get called up to play off-season hockey in Europe- BUT they always come back home. Central is home. Under the virtue of access, we believe in grooming players both on and off the field of play.
