The Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund has designed four Programs that are implemented by community-based-organisations throughout South Africa and the SADC region. Our Child Safety and Protection Programme creates a safer environment for children and youth in schools and communities. Our Child Survival, Development and Thriving Programme focusses on the first 1000 days of a child’s life and reducing child mortality and supporting pregnant mothers and their babies. It also strengthens community health systems and the training of Community Health Workers and Clinic Committees; and through the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital provides tertiary-level treatment to critically ill children throughout in the SADC region. Our Sustainable Livelihood Programme strengthens families economically and socially to deal with the vulnerability of children and youth.
