More about RETINA SOUTH AFRICA

Retina South Africa is the only patient led advocacy and support group for patients with a wide range of retinal conditions in South Africa. Our goal is to ensure that all South Africans with these conditions have access to appropriate treatments, and to empower people with low vision to be productive members of society through information-sharing, education, training, and counselling. Retina South Africa has been in existence since 1980 when it was formed as the Retinitis Pigmentosa Society with the primary objective of finding a cure for inherited retinal diseases. Spurred on by the discovery that their children were also sufferers of these diseases, a group of patients determined that they would find ways to support those facing terrifying realization of gradual and inexorable sight loss and simultaneously seek a cure. That continues to be Retina SA's aim.
