Help Nelson Mandela Children's Fund by donating 10 Sewing and Embroidery Machines for our income generating projects

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

The Fund's Sustainable Livelihood Programme (SLP) uses the Self Help Group approach to address the life challenges that communities experience. For the last 10 years Shelf Help Groups have managed to maintain consistency in the SLPs Savings Mobilisation Programme that helped them build savings. The Self Help Groups meet once a week to safe R2 per group member and also operate a Rotating Savings and Credit Association (ROSCAS) programme where their savings are accumulated with interest paid from the groups' loans. The second approach (and this is where we need your help!) is that each and every Self Help Group is required to establish an income generating activity using the savings as working capital. Naturally, these costs are greatly reduced by the generous in-kind donation of product, equipment or services in setting up their income generating initiative.

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
  5. 5If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
  6. 6Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
  7. 7Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
