Our children in this very rural informal settlement of Ezinketheni, near Pietermaritzburg are mostly orphaned or neglected and living with aged grandmothers.  Some are in child-headed households.  There just isn't any money for things that we take for granted such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotions, Vaseline Blue Seal, Deodorant.  This will give them self-confidence when being with others.

Rivlife works with at-risk youth everyday. One of our goals is to help them develop skills which will be beneficial in the future. We urgently required new/pre-owed computers/desktops which are still in good working condition. While we need at least 5 any amount that can be donated (including just one) would be appreciated. We can make arrangements for pick up if you are not in the KZN region.

Proteins are the building blocks of our cells and make up the framework upon which all cells are built.  Proteins are critical for the developing brain, immune system, muscles and organs.  Skimping on protein can retard growth and development, decrease immunity, weaken the heart and lungs, and sap the energy that babies and toddlers need to play and learn.
Peanut Butter is a good source of protein as it does not need to be refrigerated, and we try to give each child that benefits from our programme (914 of them) at least one teaspoon of Peanut Butter (the minimum daily requirement of protein) every school day to help build their developing brain.  We welcome any contribution towards this.

We ONLY use the following items for our educational toys:
 Bread bags (no crumbs please)
 Plastic bottle tops (milk, coke, water, etc.)
 Plastic lids from jars (honey, peanut butter, etc.)
 Any assorted plastic lids (deodorant, Omo, Pledge, etc)
 1 litre yoghurt containers with lids
 2 litre coke bottles (lids off)
 Plastic margarine containers with lids
 Cereal boxes (opened both ends & flattened)
 Polystyrene trays (From vegetables only, NO MEAT)
 Toilet roll inners
 2 and 5 litre ice-cream tubs with lids
 Netlon bags from pockets of citrus, onions & butternut
 Magazines (food, garden, wildlife, motoring)
PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ALL PLASTIC ITEMS ARE WELL
WASHED WITH SOAP!

Help Singakwenza Early Childhood Education NPC by collecting recycling for us to make educational toys from.

We need soft toys to add to our toy bags! Toy bags, consisting of soft toys, baby toys and blankets, construction toys, cars, etc, form part of our toy library. The 400 families in our ECD Home programme receive toy bags along with mentoring on how to play with their little ones.

We need construction toys to add to the toy bags in our toy library. The toy bags are used in our ECD home support programme, where we mentor parents and caregivers in stimulating their 0-4 year olds. Teaching parents how to play with and read to their little ones has far- reaching benefits!
