At Vuleka Schools although English is considered a first language and a medium of instruction we are conscious of the importance of African languages, this is why we offer isiZulu as a second language. Vuleka Schools is struggling to fill its libraries with isiZulu readers. Learning an African has many benefits. An African language is important for cultural awareness improved communications skills, especially in South Africa, cognitive development, and social integration. Learning African languages can have a positive impact on student's personal, and professional development, as well as cultural diversity and understanding.
