Help Groote Schuur Hospital Trust raise R50,000 for social work support for patients who experience GBV.

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Roughly two thirds of ALL violence in South Africa is intimate partner violence (IPV). Everyone knows at least one victim or survivor, whether they realise it or not. South Africa has the highest reported rate of women who are killed by their current or former partners (intimate femicide) than anywhere else in the world. It's a silent epidemic that has huge health consequences for victims ... but very few health facilities address it. Groote Schuur Hospital is changing this and will be launching an IPV awareness project during the 16 Days of Activism. This will identify, empower, and support patients who are experiencing IPV including psychological, physical and sexual violence by an intimate partner, and whose lives are at continued risk. This is likely to be one of the first such interventions in a public hospital in South Africa. To roll out the intervention and begin to curb the effects of violence, we need adequate emotional and psychological support for any patients who disclose that they are experiencing violence and are seeking support. But, proper support needs proper money. Please donate so that we can change women's lives in a profound and meaningful way.
