Little Favoured Ones
What Little Favoured Ones is planning for 16 Days of Activism
For 16 Days of Activism we will target poverty area’s in the Western Cape. We will focus on helping moms who go to state hospitals to give birth and have nothing when they leave. Areas include: Atlantis, Ceres, Khayelitsha District Hospital and Wellington. How we started: Little Favoured Ones started when a friend approached me and didn’t have an idea of what to do with her baby goods, after her daughter had turned one. At the time I was a kangaroo mom (Safety parent for Procare) and felt the need to start exploring into how to help moms in need. We received donations from moms in the church & also friends, then we started helping other kangaroo mothers. We then donated to a baby home in Wellington, and gave to churches and unprivileged babies in rural areas. More mothers donated their baby goods and not long after, we could add moms in need, baby safety parents, baby homes, hospitals and now also mothers in prison on our data base. We have moms in need from as far as Hoedspruit, in Limpopo who contact us for help, to whom we post baby hampers because of the distance.
