The African Scholars Fund (ASF) is a human-centered Social Impact Enterprise that, through awards and guidance, assists promising high school learners from rural and township schools to complete their secondary education. Established in 1970, our vision is simple: A South Africa where children's secondary educational outcomes are not determined by geographical location or financial resources. WE OPERATE in 3 of South Africa's provinces - Northern, Western, and Eastern Cape - providing modest financial support to the learners who are part of our programme. These financial contributions go toward helping learners purchase their uniforms, textbooks, and stationery - essential tools for learning. OUR PURPOSE is to focus on those who are most vulnerable to disengagement and who may otherwise see little purpose in persevering through to matric because of the social and economic challenges they face.
