CoolPlay learnt that children in South African townships experience at least eight traumatic events a year. Now, CoolPlays bridges a critical gap in South African township schools by providing structured after-school sports programs in six underprivileged communities. We empower over 2,500 children weekly across 22 schools, using team sports as a vehicle to develop essential psychosocial skills. Our trained Champions (coaches) serve as mentors, creating safe spaces where children build character, resilience, and emotional well-being. Beyond physical activity, CoolPlay's methodology instils teamwork, communication, conflict resolution, and goal-setting abilities. By engaging youth in constructive activities, we provide alternatives to the risks many face in underserved communities, creating positive ripple effects throughout homes, classrooms, and neighbourhoods.
