A Classroom on Wheels!

At DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage, learning about nature goes beyond the classroom. Our new game drive vehicle is helping children experience wildlife in a way they never imagined.

At DAKTARI Bush School & Wildlife Orphanage, many of the children who join our environmental education programme live close to nature reserves, yet most have never seen wild animals in their natural habitat. For them, wildlife often exists only in books or pictures. Our new game drive vehicle has transformed this reality. It allows us to take small groups of children safely into the surrounding bush, where lessons come to life in a powerful and unforgettable way. Instead of only hearing about ecosystems and conservation, the children can now witness it with their own eyes. During their first drive, the excitement is always magical. Children sit quietly, scanning the bush with wide eyes, whispering to each other when they spot movement. The moment they see their first giraffe or zebra walking freely, their faces light up with amazement and joy. Many ask questions, eager to understand what the animals eat, where they sleep, and how they survive. These experiences create a deep connection to nature that no classroom alone can achieve. Seeing wildlife in its natural environment helps children understand why protecting animals and their habitats matters. The vehicle has truly become a moving classroom, opening doors to discovery, building respect for the environment, and inspiring children to care for the natural world around them.
