More about Down with Dough
Down with Dough, based in Bellville (South Africa), upskills young adults with intellectual disabilities to enable them to live a life of appropriate independence and meaningful work placement. Since 2019, our bakery has offered a proven skills training and personal development programme for intellectually-challenged 18 – 30 year-olds. Down with Dough has grown substantially since we opened our doors in 2019. We have become well-known in the Durbanville and wider community for our delicious gluten-free products, and vision for the young adults with intellectual disabilities that attend our programme. OUR DREAM o To expand the programme to include young people from all socio-economic groups o To find sponsorship for members from our local communities who need financial assistance to participate in the programme o To develop a working partnership with local businesses to establish a preliminary ‘promise’ of in-service training and probation period.
