2nd Ecobrick Project- 4 extra Classroom donate to Khensani's Collection

In 2022 Earthly Touch Foundation started another Eco-brick project to built 4 extra classes for Khensani's Collection. We built Eco-brick Classroom Block measuring 192m2 floor Area March 2022 - July 2023 60 000 Eco-bricks (550g), 12 000 Eco-sand bricks (3.5kg) 33 tons waste plastic (2L PET bottles + all types of waste plastics) diverted from the landfill Approx 33 tCO2 emission Saved from the environment (1kg plastic/1kg CO2)

After the successful completion of the 1st classroom at Khensani's collection Earthly Touch Foundation embarked on second project to built a block of classroom. The vision was to construct a Green Centre and this was achieved by constructing classrooms , kitchen and toilets out of eco-bricks. We also introduced Edlo Toilets for sanitation which had low impact in contaminating the environment, solar to provide electricity and rain water harvesting for both drinking and for community gardens. We reduced the use of cement and replaced a percentage with clay and hay for thermal properties. This was all aimed to ensure that all materials used had a positive impact to the environment. The building cost us +-R600 000, created 30 temporary jobs , removed 33 tons of plastic from the environment , provides learning facilities for 150 students .
