Honored to Be Recognised by Kgosi Moroka and the Barolong boo Seleka Tribe

Habitat for Humanity South Africa was recognised by Kgosi Moroka for its role in building seven homes in partnership with the Barolong boo Seleka tribe during the 2023 and 2024 Nelson Mandela Builds. The latest house, built in July 2024 in Thaba-Nchu, replaced a mud home for a local family, with support from the IDC. National Director Daphney Ngoasheng received a certificate of recognition, highlighting the strong relationship between HFHSA and the community.

Habitat for Humanity South Africa (HFHSA) had the honour of being invited by Kgosi Moroka to a special luncheon ahead of the State of Morafe Address (SOMA). The event recognised HFHSA’s significant contributions during the 2023 and 2024 Nelson Mandela Builds and celebrated the partnership between HFHSA and the Barolong boo Seleka tribe. Through these collaborative efforts, a total of seven houses were built — six in Thaba-Nchu and one in Botshabelo — providing safe and secure homes to families in need. The latest build, completed in July 2024 in Morago, Thaba-Nchu, offered a new home to a family that had been living in a mud house for many years. This project was made possible through the generous support of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). During the luncheon, HFHSA’s National Director, Daphney Ngoasheng, received a certificate of recognition from Kgosi Moroka, acknowledging the impactful partnership and celebrating the strong bond between the organisation and the Barolong boo Seleka community. This recognition affirms the enduring impact these collaborations have in uplifting communities and creating lasting change. HFHSA remains committed to strengthening these relationships and continuing its mission to provide safe, decent housing across South Africa. We are grateful for support from partners like IDC and look forward to further collaboration with the Barolong boo Seleka tribe and beyond.
