Magnet Training and Youth Upliftment Trust

Magnet Theatre is one of South Africa’s best known independent physical theatre companies that has been operating in and outside of South Africa for the past 38 years. We provide the only theatre arts ‘trade school’ of its kind in theatre the Western Cape. It is evidenced to provide marginalised youth with access to education and employment. Our projects empower and develop youth to become role models and leaders in their communities and the theatre profession, offering a very significant investment in unemployed and under-privileged youth. We run multi-layered educational programmes that are aimed at filling the skills gap in the theatre industry, the transformation of young people’s lives and the theatre industry as a whole. We are housed at THE MAGNET THEATRE in Observatory, Cape Town, in a 150-seat theatre. It is a training home for the youth development projects, a performance space for our professional productions and an administrative base for all our programmes.
