More about Mathoko Special Stars Hub
At Mathoka Special Stars Hub, we believe every child and young person with a disability deserves to feel seen, valued, included and supported. Our purpose is to help children, youth and families overcome barriers to education, participation and opportunity. Our aim is to give young people with disabilities an opportunity to learn practical sewing skills, creativity and basic income-generating skills in a supportive environment. We plan to begin with a small pilot of two sewing machines and two learners, allowing us to start at a manageable level, learn from the experience and gradually expand the programme to reach more young people. We are seeking support in the form of sewing machines, sewing equipment, fabric, thread and other textile materials. Donations of equipment will allow learners to practise and develop skills while creating useful products such as simple clothing items, bags, alterations and upcycled textile products.
