More about Mercy Shumi Foundation NPC
"Mercy's Green Patch" Nursery is a flagship community initiative of the Mercy Shumi Foundation NPC dedicated to sustainable agriculture, food security, and rural development. Located in the Masotsheni Area (Ward 14) of the Nquthu Local Municipality, KwaZulu-Natal, our project serves as a vibrant green hub where environmental care meets community empowerment. Our community faces severe socio-economic challenges including high unemployment and deep food security. Many children go to school on empty stomachs, and elderly residents struggle to access fresh, nutritious food daily. To this, Mercy's Green Patch focuses on cultivating indigenous plants, high-quality vegetable seedlings, and fruit trees tailored to thrive in our local climate. By producing these resources locally, we aim to empower residents to establish their own home garden, build sustainable food sources, and restore hope and dignity to vulnerable households.
