Ally's Story
“I noticed a big change in Ally when she transitioned from the First Thousand Days (FTD) Programme to the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme. I could see her personality starting to blossom.”
Meet 4-year-old Ally. Ally struggled to fit in when she first arrived at the Pebbles Project Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre. She faced a language barrier and had difficulty connecting with her classmates. Ally’s home language is Xhosa, and she does not speak or understand any other language. The Pebbles Project ECD practitioner did everything she could to ensure that Ally felt included and was able to understand the educational lessons and class activities. The practitioner says: “I noticed a big change in Ally when she transitioned from the First Thousand Days (FTD) Programme to the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme. I could see her personality starting to blossom.” Ally has since adapted incredibly well. She loves playing with her peers and is a very happy child. She is now fluent in Afrikaans, and her mother is proud that her daughter is fully bilingual. Thanks to the dedication of the Pebbles Project ECD practitioner, Ally has overcome the challenges she initially faced and blossomed into a vibrant little girl who enjoys learning and inspires everyone around her with her infectious laugh and bubbly personality. The Pebbles Project team is incredibly proud of how far Ally has come and look forward to seeing where her journey will take her next. *The name of the beneficiary has been changed to protect her identity.
