Covering for the Elderly

The elderly in Tamboville, Glenwood and Thembalihle are "all covered up" as our community likes to say. Seniors from Ward 38 are kept warm this Winter thanks to the committed efforts of donors from RivLife Community Centre. The elderly in our community live in informal housing where gas products and open flames are often left unattended. This makes fires during Winter a very common and misfortunate occurance. In the hopes of providing some relief, RivLife rallied the help of their volunteers and donors to give back to the Seniors of the Ward 38 community through a Winter Blanket Drive. Residents of these communities were overjoyed to see the elderly being taken care of, especially during Covid-19 when many households are facing great challenges in buying essential items. Over R 12 000.00 was raised in the short space of just four weeks. A local Child and Youth Careworker who was actively involved in the drive added, "This is a testimony that even during a pandemic, our nation is still characterised by caring for others."
