Born too soon, yet braver than ever

Celebrating World Prematurity Day 2025

All babies are miracles, but there’s something about a premature baby that is just magical. These tiny beings, that enter the world earlier than expected, fighting for their lives from day one. Yesterday I was privileged to honour all those prem moms and babies and deliver maternity packs to these tiny humans, the smallest weighing only 700g. It was a mere 10 years ago (14 Nov 2015 to be exact) that my daughter was one of those lying in the NICU with all those scary cables and loud hospital sounds. This year, I decided that I had to get to the hospital on this special day, to honour her, and all those born too soon. #WorldPrematurityDay, observed every year on November 17, is a global awareness day dedicated to highlighting the challenges and impact of preterm birth. It serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to improve care for preterm infants and support for their families around the world. To all those parents standing next to the incubator at the NICU, we honour you and to all those little fighters, may that “never give up” spirit never leave you. If you are interested in helping vulnerable mothers and babies in need, please see more info on our website here: www.thegracefactory.co.za Your support means so much to us.
