Making a difference one maternity pack at a time

As I walked into the second cubicle, in the second ward we visited, I noticed a mom and her baby in the far corner. I walked over to this mom and it wasn't difficult to see from her tired eyes that life, and specifically this birth, had been difficult. After introducing myself and asking her baby's name, I continued with my usual line of: "This is a gift from The Grace Factory to bless you and congratulate you on your new baby". I then told her what was in the bag; nappies, a blanket, wet wipes, newborn clothes... At these words this precious new mom burst into floods of tears. Between sobs she unwrapped her clean but well worn baby blanket to reveal her precious gift; tiny, vulnerable and with only a nappy on to cover her nakedness. "I have no clothes!" she gasped. "I prayed for clothes this morning. I prayed!!" On this day, I can only say that two lives were touched and one possibly more than another. Her life, yes, as she gracefully received the gift of the maternity pack we handed to her. But even more so, my life was touched through the realisation that more often than not, the answers to people's prayers and desperation come in the form of caring human hands and feet.
