As a humanitarian organization, the aim is to prevent and alleviate human suffering, prioritizing those who are most in need. The focus will be in helping to build a disaster resilient community in vulnerable areas. The project will target two areas: Mthatha in OR Tambo and Makhanda, Sarah Baartman District Municipality Building resilient communities through the development of anticipatory actions that can reduce the impact of disasters on vulnerable individuals and subsistence households. This will be achieved through (a) training and capacity building of target groups in basic understanding of disaster response, emergency response, safer access protocols, hands on actions to protect property and livelihoods (b) Support communities with WASH (Water and Sanitation and Hygiene) during disasters to ensure health impacts are not experienced (c) Train disaster volunteers to support evacuated communities in temporary shelters at community halls to ensure clean and hygienic ...
