Occupational Therapy - Disability Awareness at Turfhall Cheshire

The UCT Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences reached out to Turfhall Cheshire Home for the placement of their third year Occupational Therapy students.

During the past three years the OT Team set up an Occupational Therapy department with the necessary equipment, where our residents are assessed and receive individual therapy. Mrs Manushka Van Dyk currently heads up the group - Six OT students per term. The group is well organised, and brings excitement, and friendship all of which are vital to the well-being and social engagement of our residents. Turfhall Cheshire is not in a position to employ a full-time OT and this collaboration with UCT has made a huge difference in the lives of our residents, as well as our Carers. OT days are the best - lots of fun is had by all. We welcome donations of items that can be utilised during these sessions: Games / Puzzles / Arts & Crafts
