International Youth Day 2025

International Youth Day, celebrated on 12 August, recognises the vital role young people play in shaping a more inclusive and sustainable world. It highlights youth voices, rights, and potential. For young people with intellectual disabilities, the day is especially important as it promotes inclusion, dignity, equal opportunities, and the recognition of their inherent value and contributions to society.

Our young residents at Woodside may face profound intellectual disabilities, but their presence, spirit, and resilience continue to inspire us every single day. Their journey may look different, but their impact is no less meaningful. On this day, we’re reminded that change doesn’t always come in loud, visible ways. Sometimes, it begins with simply being and in that being, inspiring others to be kinder, more compassionate, and more human. Let’s not only celebrate what young people can do, but also honour who they are.
