Woman's Day 2025

On 9 August 1956, 20 000 brave women marched to the Union Buildings to protest apartheid pass laws, inspiring generations. Nearly 70 years later, we honour that legacy by celebrating today’s strong women. At Woodside Sanctuary, our caregivers, nurses, managers, mothers and change-makers are the heart of our work, making a difference every day. To all women past, present and future: we thank, honour and celebrate you.

On Thursday, the 9th of August 1956, 20 000 fearless women marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against the unjust pass laws under apartheid, a powerful act of resistance that continues to inspire generations. Today, nearly 70 years later, we honour that legacy by celebrating the now generation of strong women, women who lead with courage, serve with compassion, and uplift others in every role they play. At Woodside Sanctuary, we are privileged to work alongside phenomenal women who wear many hats; as caregivers, nurses, managers, mothers, and change makers. They are the beating heart of our organisation, making a meaningful difference every single day. To all the women past, present, and future we thank you. We honour you. We celebrate you💙
