67 Minutes of Kindness: Honouring Madiba’s Legacy at Woodside Sanctuary
Woodside Sanctuary marked Nelson Mandela Day with warmth, compassion, and community spirit as supporters from SABC, Alliance International Medical Services, and Mr & Miss UJ APK dedicated their time to our residents. Their kindness and meaningful interactions brought joy and connection to our home, reminding us that small acts of compassion can make a lasting difference. At Woodside, we believe the spirit of Mandela Day should extend far beyond 67 minutes — inspiring kindness, inclusion, and car
Nelson Mandela Day is a powerful reminder that lasting change begins with simple acts of kindness. By dedicating 67 minutes to serving others, we honour Madiba’s 67 years of fighting for justice, equality and human dignity — but at Woodside Sanctuary, we believe that the spirit of Mandela Day should live on far beyond those 67 minutes. This year, Woodside Sanctuary was filled with warmth, compassion and community spirit as generous supporters came together to honour Madiba’s legacy and bring joy to our home. A heartfelt thank you to SABC, Alliance International Medical Services, and Mr & Miss UJ APK for showing their support, rolling up their sleeves and giving their time to our residents. Your kindness, energy and willingness to make a difference created meaningful moments that will be remembered long after Mandela Day has passed. At Woodside, we witness the power of compassion every day. A shared smile, a helping hand, a friendly conversation or simply spending time with someone can make a world of difference. For people with intellectual and mental disabilities, these moments of connection remind us of something beautifully simple: everyone deserves to feel valued, included and cared for. As Nelson Mandela said, “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” His words continue to inspire us to believe in what is possible when people come together with purpose and compassion. 67 minutes was just the beginning. 💛 Let’s continue Madiba’s legacy by choosing kindness, creating connections and building a more inclusive and caring community — not just on Mandela Day, but every day. Because one act of kindness really can change a life.
