Our October newsletter is a call to action. Back to School with Ya Bana Village for the Children
At Ya Bana Village we care for 56 wonderful school-going children - full of dreams and potential. This newslettter is a call to action: we are asking our friends to help our children start the new school year with confidence by filling a shoebox with love and stationery.
Building Bright Futures through EDUCATION A Message from Ya Bana Village We believe every child’s future begins with a good education — a safe place to learn, a caring heart to guide them, and the right tools in their hands. At Ya Bana Village, just like in any family with school-going children, our daily rhythms revolve around the children’s school routines. From our mothers preparing delicious lunchboxes for six to eight little ones, to washing and mending school uniforms with love — every day is filled with care and commitment. Our drivers start early, taking children to 14 different schools, with some being dropped off as early as 5:15 a.m. Afternoons are busy with homework, assignments, and exam preparations. We listen to their worries, share in their laughter, and celebrate their dreams for the future Voices from the Village 🎒 From Teacher Maria: “When a child has a proper pen and notebook, their whole attitude changes. They sit taller, they write with pride — and they start to believe in their own ability.” 🧒🏽 From Boipelo, Age 13 “I love maths! I want to be an engineer when I grow up. I can’t wait to get new pens and colour pencils for next year.” 💖 From Volunteer Lerato: “Seeing the joy on the children’s faces when they get their school packs is unforgettable. It’s not just stationery — it’s dignity and hope.” 📊 Education Snapshot • 56 children currently attend school through Ya Bana Village. • 10 learners will start high school in 2026 — our biggest group yet! • 5 dedicated tutors and support our children. • 7 desktops were donated in 2025 that is used for computer literacy and research.
