Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

About Our Fundraising Project: House Nehemiah Children's Fun Day On 11 December, the Social Justice Foundation will host a special Fun Day for the children from House Nehemiah. This Children's Home is, a place of safety for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, trauma, and displacement. We are raising funds for Swimming for Dignity Initiative. For many of these children, this will be their first opportunity to go swimming. We aim to provide each child with a swimming costume and towel at an estimated cost of R350 per child. A swimming costume and towel may seem like simple items, but they provide confidence, dignity, inclusion, and the opportunity to participate fully alongside their peers. Every contribution matters. We cannot change what these children have already experienced, but together we can help create a new and happy memory.

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
  5. 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
  6. 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
  7. 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
