Help World Speech Day South Africa by donating new and preloved reading books for 15 children's reading corners

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

At World Speech Day South Africa, we believe that every child deserves the chance to fall in love with reading. Through our United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Book Club, we are building 50 vibrant reading corners in primary schools, hospitals, libraries, children’s homes, and community centres across Gauteng and Northwest. These reading corners will spark curiosity, creativity, and literacy in young minds who need it most — from hospital bedsides to primary school libraries. Each corner will be a safe and magical space filled with colour, comfort, and (most importantly) books! But we can’t do it without you. We’re calling on generous book lovers, publishers, and community champions to help us fill these corners with age-appropriate, inclusive, and engaging books for children aged 4–13. Whether it’s a stack of your childhood favourites, extra stock from your publishing house, or a thoughtful gift from your heart — your donation could light up a child’s world. Join us in turning these corners into gateways of imagination and learning.

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
  5. 5If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
  6. 6Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
  7. 7Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
