Across the Western Cape, many women — especially single mothers — are still struggling to break free from poverty. In too many communities, women carry the full weight of survival for their families, often without access to the skills or opportunities they need to earn a living. Nearly 40% of households in the Western Cape are headed by women. About 45% of children live only with their mothers. Food insecurity affects 1 in 8 households, and unemployment remains around 20–30%, hitting women the hardest. This cause supports single women parents from poor communities, helping them regain independence and restore their dignity through skills training and accredited learning.
