Public awareness and sensitisation are paramount to ensure cautious actions and measures are taken to protect communities from any health threats. Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) to different community groups enable timely alerts, awareness and action by vulnerable people. Behaviour change is a process and it requires constant awareness, sensitisation, peer education and campaigns which harness peoples attention to adhere to good health promotion and practices. This will greatly assist in reducing the prevalence of both communicable and non-communicable disease in communities across South Africa.
