Write a Motivational Letter to Inspire Future Reading Champions Project Literacy is training 7 unemployed youth to become Reading Champions in the Run Home to Read® family literacy programme. These changemakers will bring early childhood development (ECD) opportunities to communities where there are no centres As they train to make a lasting difference, they need encouragement and inspiration to keep moving forward. We’re are calling on you to write heartfelt motivational letters to these 7 Reading Champions. Your letter will: • Encourage them to believe in their dreams. • Share how reading has shaped your own life and why literacy matters to you. • Remind them that they can change the future of children in their communities. Your words could be the spark that keeps them going when times get tough! • Start with a warm greeting • Introduce yourself • Share how reading has impacted your life • Offer words of encouragement • Close with hope and support Write your letter to one of the learners below: • Boitumelo • Khomotso • Phumzile • Lerato • Nomsa • Margaret • Dominique Deadline 30 September. Literacy opens doors to education, jobs, and opportunity. By supporting these future Reading Champions, you’re helping entire communities gain access to early education and the power of reading.

Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
