Help Mustard Seed Tree with 5 volunteers for Mental Health Animation Videos (Animators Wanted)

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Bring Mental Health to Life Through Animation: Volunteer Student Opportunity Help us turn stories of hope, healing and mental health awareness into animated videos that make a difference. About The Mustard Seed Tree The Mustard Seed Tree (MST) is a South African nonprofit organisation dedicated to making mental health support more accessible to people who need it. We believe that everyone deserves to be heard, understood and treated with compassion, regardless of their circumstances. Now, we want to take that message further through the power of animation. We are looking for creative, passionate student volunteers who want to use their animation skills to make a meaningful difference by helping us develop animated projects for our YouTube channel. This is an opportunity to take your creativity beyond the classroom and contribute to work that has a real purpose. What will you be working on? Working alongside our team, you could help bring mental health education, awareness campaigns and meaningful stories to life through animation. Depending on your skills and interests, your contribution could include: 2D or 3D animation: Bringing characters, concepts and stories to life. Character design: Developing engaging characters that help communicate important messages. Motion graphics: Creating animated text, visual explanations and engaging transitions. Storyboarding: Turning ideas and scripts into visual stories. Visual storytelling: Helping us explain mental health topics in ways that are accessible, engaging and easy to understand. YouTube content: Contributing to animated videos that educate, encourage and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health. You do not need to be an expert in every area. We are interested in students who are willing to learn, share ideas and contribute their unique talents. Who should apply? This opportunity is ideal for students studying or developing skills in: Animation and digital animation Multimedia design Graphic design and motion graphics Film and video production Digital arts and visual communication Game design or other related creative fields We welcome students at different stages of their studies, including those looking to build their portfolios, gain practical experience or contribute to a project that goes beyond commercial work. We value creativity, reliability, communication and a genuine interest in making a positive contribution. You do not need to have years of experience, but you should be willing to work collaboratively and see projects through to completion. What will you gain? Volunteering with The Mustard Seed Tree is an opportunity to apply your skills to a real-world nonprofit project while contributing to something bigger than yourself. Depending on the project and your level of involvement, you could gain: Practical experience working on real animation projects. Opportunities to develop and strengthen your creative portfolio. Experience collaborating with a nonprofit team. The chance to explore storytelling for public education and social impact. An opportunity to see your creative work contribute to mental health awareness. A meaningful addition to your CV that reflects your commitment to using your skills for good. This is a volunteer opportunity, not a paid position. Any project scope, deadlines, supervision arrangements and permission to include work in a personal portfolio will be discussed and agreed upon with the relevant volunteers. Why your contribution matters Mental health can be difficult to talk about. Sometimes, a well-told story or a powerful visual can communicate something that words alone cannot. Animation gives us the opportunity to explain complex subjects, challenge harmful misconceptions and reach audiences who might otherwise never engage with mental health education. Your work could help someone better understand their own experiences, recognise the struggles of someone they care about or approach mental health with greater compassion. You may be a student today, but the skills you are developing can already make a difference. We are not simply looking for people who can animate. We are looking for creative minds who want their work to mean something. How to get involved If you are a student with an interest in animation and would like to contribute your skills to The Mustard Seed Tree's YouTube channel, we would love to hear from you. When expressing your interest, please tell us a little about yourself, what you are studying or learning, the animation skills you have, and the kind of projects you would enjoy working on. If you have a portfolio, showreel or examples of your work, please include a link. Help us bring important stories to life, one frame at a time. Volunteer with The Mustard Seed Tree and use your creativity to make a difference. The Mustard Seed Tree: Helping people find hope, support and a way forward.
