The Seke Rural community in Zimbabwe is experiencing significant food insecurity driven by climate change and limited access to sustainable agricultural practices. In response to these challenges, we are launching a comprehensive community development initiative aimed at building resilience and creating sustainable livelihoods. Our Mission We seek to empower local farmers through skills training and the establishment of diversified, income-generating agricultural enterprises that are both climate-resilient and economically viable. Training Areas We are recruiting volunteer trainers with expertise in: Beekeeping – sustainable honey production and pollination services Aquaculture – fish farming techniques for protein security Mushroom cultivation – low-cost, high-yield production methods Livestock management – climate-smart animal husbandry Nutrition gardens – year-round production of diverse, nutrient-rich vegetables Permaculture design – sustainable land use and regenerative farming systems Program Components Our comprehensive approach includes: Hands-on training in climate-resilient farming techniques Establishment of demonstration sites for mushroom farming, nutrition gardens, and fish production Business development support for income-generating enterprises Community capacity building for long-term sustainability Knowledge sharing networks among participating farmers Expected Impact This project will enhance food security, diversify income sources, and strengthen community resilience against climate variability while promoting environmental sustainability and economic empowerment in Seke Rural.
