Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

In order to combat muggings and crime along the Braamfontein Spruit, Jozi Trails has started the Trail Guardian project. This involves community volunteers patrolling a designated safe route around Delta Park twice a day, 7 days a week, to ensure that trail users such as walkers, runners and cyclists can use the trails safely. Each group of 4 volunteers patrols, observes and reports anything suspicious to a call centre which dispatched the nearest security reaction vehicle to investigate. The Trail Guardians are also a first line of help to anyone on the trails that needs assistance for any reason. The project is supported by SAPS and JMPD. This is the first project of its kind and we will extend the model to other public green spaces once it has been tested and shown to be successful. As an NGO we request support from companies or individuals to pay for the costs of the project. This includes seeking donations of high visibility clothing, such as caps, bibs and t-shirts to identify Trail Guardians.
